Permeable Paving and Gravel Filter Drainage

Project Objective

The ongoing project in La Floresta aims to transform the entrance of a private residence by installing a green, fully permeable pavement.

This is the first phase of a comprehensive landscaping project designed to achieve full integration of the parking area with the surrounding natural environment. The proposed solution involves the use of Filtra Green permeable pavement combined with a gravel filter drainage system, ensuring functionality, sustainability, and durability for vehicle traffic.

Proposal Description

  • General Features of the Pavement

The Filtra Green pavement is an innovative system that combines drainage capability with a green and aesthetic integration. It is composed of materials that allow for the growth of ground cover plants such as Dichondra repens, a low-maintenance species that provides a green and natural look to the residence entrance.

    This system is characterized by:

    • High permeability: Allows rainwater to infiltrate directly into the subsoil, preventing pooling and improving water management.
    • Mechanical resistance: Suitable for vehicle traffic, ensuring durability with proper maintenance.
    • Naturalized aesthetics: The combination of pavement and vegetation creates a pleasant and harmonious environment with the natural surroundings.

    Execution Phases

The intervention has been planned in several phases to ensure careful and efficient execution:

    1. Excavation of the existing terrain: A controlled excavation was carried out to adapt the ground to the requirements of the new pavement. This process included the removal of surplus materials and ground leveling to ensure a stable base.
    2. Incorporation of drainage layers: Layers of draining materials, such as gravel and sand, were added to facilitate water infiltration and prevent pooling. This system also enhances the filtration capacity of the subsoil.
    3. Definition of slopes and outlets: Necessary slopes were established to ensure proper rainwater drainage, directing it to filtration points and preventing accumulation near the residence.
    4. Careful ground compaction: Compaction was performed in a controlled manner to ensure a firm and durable base suitable for vehicle traffic without compromising the system’s permeability.
    5. Installation of Filtra Green pavement: The pavement was installed following technical specifications, incorporating the planting of Dichondra repens in designated spaces. This step ensured an even distribution of greenery.
